Light. Warmth. Stand at a South facing window at mid-day. Notice the tranquility of each gentle glint as it falls upon your bare skin. The rays bounce, catching strands of hair gleaning in the quiet space of this instant. Momentary lightness breaking up the dark.
A dark cold washes over you as you stand in the open air. Breath escapes you, careless in it’s departure. Breathe in knowing. Silence violently persists, engulfing the surrounding air. Your steps fall quick and hard on the frozen earth. You are reminded...
Ephemeral Light is an observation of light and darkness, and how these two conflicting forces coalesce in a dance of curiosity and emotion. The relationship between the audience and this body of work is of utmost importance. It is what the viewer carries with them, and reflects into this work, that makes the images all the more powerful. To this end, I make it a point not to disclose the actual subjects within my images; I am instead fascinated by how each piece evolves in the viewer’s eyes. Constant themes within my work include perception, identity, the subconscious, dreams, memories and interpreted reality.
